At Newport Beach between 40th & 42nd St. on Memorial Day, Zack and three of his friends ran into the ocean and dove into the waves. His body instantly was paralyzed. He was face down in the water.
His buddy, Travis, saw him and thought that he was joking. Then Zack started floating back out to sea and Travis ran to him and turned him over. Zack was still conscious, had held his breath the whole time, and remembers everything.
Zack said, "I can't move." Travis pulled him to the shoreline and ran to get a lifeguard, who then called 911.
Paramedics took Zack to Hoag Hospital (Newport Beach) first and then on to CHOC.
These are the events that took place and we are forever grateful to all the people who helped to rescue and stabilize our son Zack. Thanks to all the support we have gotten through phone calls, visits and prayers. We could not walk through this without you. Thank you GOD for never leaving my side.

Though I have never met Travis I have heard an awful lot about him from Dylan and Zack.He must be a pretty mature guy to be able to realize Zack was in trouble and pull him from the surf.
ReplyDeleteAdron as I have told Amber I dont think I personally could handle a situation like the one you both are facing. You guys are not only handling it but are doing so with such composure. Not to sound philosophical but in times like these you find out who your real friends are. It seems very clear to all who have stopped by to read about Zacks injury that you and your entire family have an abundance of friends and family who will be here for the duration.
You and your family must be doing something very right in order to be so cared about. I am not a very religous person myself but have to admit your bravery and steadiness have illustrated to me that God definately offers something solid to grab onto in the worst of circumstances.

Hi there, I heard about Zack through a friend on Facebook. I have 3 daughters and couldnt imagine going through something like this. I dont know your family but I have been following Zack and have been praying for him everyday. I know it is in Gods hands I feel very comfortable Zack will pull through, he looks like a fighter with good sprits. I pray our Lord gives all of you the strengh you need everyday.
