Home!!

So good to be home, but quite an adjustment! Missing the nurse's call button.

We've already started at Project Walk in Carlsbad. Zack absolutely LOVES it. He's so happy, he said he could be here all day and feels welcome. So cute!

I'm so happy! ~Amber

August 9

Going home? We are supposed to go home today, but are still waiting on some necessary equipment -- we can't go home without it. We are BOTH ready now! It is going to be a transition whether we leave today or next week, so we might as well just go for it. I gave Zack his shot in in his stomach, was waiting on the last minute for it since it was the last thing I needed to do.

It's a little bittersweet saying goodbye to some of the staff here, especially after living here for over 8-weeks. It's been good, but it's time to move on.

Kristen!

This is Kristen! She is a volunteer here at Casa Colina and she has become a good friend to Zack. She is also a swim instructor and has taken Zack into the pool. We're lucky too, she happens to live really close to us.

The pics are of her and Zack in his room -- Zack gets really cold so he had her put the covers over his head to keep him warm!

Some Additional Casa Colina Pics....

Here is Zack sitting in the sun in his favorite spot at Casa Colina next to the fountain and Levi's collection of visitor passes over the last 2 months.

August 6

HUGE NEWS!!!

Zack's body has random spasms that have been occurring for weeks and have progressively gotten stronger and more frequent. Recently we have been noticing he can use the spasms to move his legs. For instance, when he has a spasm and concentrates hard, thinking about moving his leg, it moves!!!! He can't wiggle his toes, but can push/touch them together through the spasm.

I was lucky to get it on video!

Thank you for praying. Don't stop, it's working!

Zack's ready to come home!

Pics of Zack's Outing

Zack got to go to the movies with his occupational therapists and his new friend, Nick, he met at Casa Colina. Since then Nick has been discharged from hospital and is missed, he made the hospital fun for Zack.

There is a small blip of an article in the OC Register of yesterdays paper (7/31), local section, page 14 bottom right. There is going to be a story with photos of Zack in the Yorba Linda Star paper that will come out this Thursday. You can pick up free copies of it at the library and various other locations in the city.

On another note, a few people have emailed me and said the comments they've posted are not coming up on the blog. We are working hard to resolve the technical glitch and should have it fixed shortly. Please continue commenting, it's really encouraging!

Thanks for following Zack's progress, we love hearing from you.

July 30

We have been told we may be leaving Casa Colina next week. Zack is very excited to go home. We still have a lot to do to get ready for him. Please pray we can get this van conversion done quickly. When we checked the measurements with Zack in his wheelchair, he's 2" too tall, his head would hit the roof inside! We are trying to make it work. We are ordering all his necessary equipment and medical supplies for home too. Definitely a bit overwhelming.

On a fun note, Zack gets a day pass on Sunday and we will be visiting one of the families we've met at their house for a BBQ. Zack got to do pool therapy the other day and loved being in the water!

I also wanted to say THANK YOU to all the people who have been bringing meals to us. It's REALLY a huge help. Love, Amber
